The leading German intellectual Max Czollek in conversation with prof. Penka Angelova on pluralism in today’s German society
Prof. Dr. Penka Angelova
Max Czollek was born in Berlin in 1987 and lives there. He studied Political Science at the Free University of Berlin and defended his PhD at the Center for the Study of Antisemitism at the Technical University of Berlin. Max Czollek is a member of the poetry collective G13 and co-editor of the journal Jalta – Positionen zur jüdischen Gegenwart (Yalta – Positions on the Jewish Present).
He is the driving force behind cultural initiatives of the Jewish community at the Maxim Gorky Theatre in Berlin. In 2020, he initiated the International Days of Jewish-Muslim Culture (WWW.TDJML.ORG) as a decentralized congress with kick-off events at the Maxim Gorky Theatre. His essay Desintegriert Euch! (Disintegrate!) was published in 2018.
In October 2021, Max Czollek participated in the literary festival “Breath of Europe” in Ruse, where he presented his concept of “disintegration” of the multiple social groups in contemporary Germany and Europe. Czollek spoke of the need for a pluralistic society in which the differences of all people are accepted, rather than being unified under a single social norm. In the framework of Czollek’s visit prof. Penka Angelova, president of the International Elias Canetti Society in Ruse, interviewed him. The interview was translated into other languages by the blog “The Persian Bridge of Friendship”.
