After the February 2020 parliamentary elections the political elite in the Islamic Republic homogenised itself, with the reformist current being practically left out of the parliament. The spread of the coronavirus strengthened once again the contradictions between the country’s elite and the people, for whom Iran is part of the world and not only the sponsor of „the axis of resistance” in the Middle East

The year 2020 started with fears from world war, which followed the murder of the Iranian general Qassem Soleimani. It continued with the hysteria around the spread of the coronavirus, which stirred the imposition of state of emergency in Bulgaria, Romania and other European countries. Now high-ranking politicians and experts claim in media that we are in a state of war with bacteriological weapon.

Such fears from war and extinction are not something new in the last thirty years, in which Bulgarians have passed through a lot of social cataclysms and crises. But our country was never under the threat of a military conflict with its neighbour or international factor. How would have we felt, if we lived in one of the key countries of the Middle East – Iran, and there was a constant threat haunting us – not only if we belong to the elite of the country, but also if we feel part of the common people? How do the Iranian elite and people see their role in the Middle East, where after 2001 there is an intense rearrangement of forces?

Acest articol va fi publicat în numărul 3-4 din anul 2020 al revistei bulgare ”Timpuri noi”. 

Anul 2020 a început cu fricile legate de un război mondial, care au urmat uciderii generalului iranian Ghassem Soleimani. Şi a continuat cu isteria în jurul răspândirii corona virusului, care a provocat introducerea unei stări de urgenţă în Bulgaira, România şi alte ţări europene. Acum politicienii de rând înalt şi experţi afirmă în media că ne aflăm într-un război cu arme bacteriologice.

Pentru noi în Bulgaria astfel de frici de război şi distrugere sunt ceva nou în ultimii 30 de ani, în care am trecut prin multe cutremure şi crize sociale, fără a intra într-un conflict militar deschis cu vreun vecin sau factor internaţional. Dar cum ne-am fi simţit, dacă locuiam într-una dintre ţările cheie în Orientul Mijlociu – Iran, şi ne pândea pericolul permanent – indiferent dacă apărţinem elitei acestei ţării sau ne simţeam mai degrabă parte din oamenii de rând? Cum elitele şi poporul din Iran privesc rolul său din Orientul Mijlociu, unde cel puţin din anul 2001 se produce o rearanjare a forţelor?

2020 г. започна със страховете от световна война, последвали убийството на иранския генерал Гасем Солеймани. И продължи с истерията около разпространението на коронавируса, което провокира въвеждането на извънредно положение в България, Румъния и в други европейски страни. Сега високопоставени политици и експерти твърдят из медиите, че се намираме във война с бактериологично оръжие.

За нас в България подобни страхове от война и унищожение са нещо ново през последните трийсет години, преминали с много сътресения и кризи, но без да въвлекат страната ни в открит военен конфликт с някой неин съсед или международен фактор. Как обаче бихме се чувствали, ако живеехме в една от ключовите държави в Близкия изток – Иран, и над нас тегнеше постоянно заплаха – без значение дали принадлежим на елита на държавата или се чувстваме по-скоро част от обикновените граждани? Как иранският елит и народ гледат на своята роля в Близкия изток, където поне от 2001 г. насам тече усилено пренареждане на силите?
