The Iranian new year (Nowruz) is an ancient celebration for a wide geographical and cultural space that extends far beyond the borders of modern Iran. In 2022 the Nowruz takes place on 20th March 2022. In order to have a look at the deeper meaning of this celebration and its importance, the Persian bridge of Friendship republished an article by Fereydoun Majlessi – an Iranian former diplomat, current analyst of international affairs and leading intellectual.

What do we expect from Nowruz and the arrival of spring that we congratulate each other. Does a new hope and a sense of life blossom in our psyche? Do we expect to be green and happy again, instead of the crumbled leaves of last year?

This year, we have more hope for Nowruz. In the last two years, we have been mourning Nowruz. Two Nowruz that, instead of being together and sharing joy, invited us to isolate ourselves and stay away. Many of us have lost friends and relatives. And tired of quarantine isolation and in the snout, we are impatient!

Anul nou iranian (Nowruz) este o sărbătorie străveche pentru un vast spațiu geografic și cultural care se extinde mult dincolo de granițele Iranului modern. În 2022, Nowruz are loc la 20 martie 2022. Pentru a arunca o privire asupra semnificației profunde a acestei sărbători și a importanței sale, Podul persan al Prieteniei a republicat un articol al lui Fereydoun Majlessi – fost diplomat iranian, actual analist de afaceri internaționale și intelectual de marcă. 

Acest articol a fost publicat pe Nowruz 1401 (20 martie 2022) de publicația Nim rooz.

Ce ne așteptăm de la Nowruz și de la sosirea primăverii că ne felicităm unii pe alții? Înflorește o nouă speranță și un sentiment de viață în psihicul nostru? Ne așteptăm să fim din nou verzi și fericiți, în locul frunzelor fărâmițate de anul trecut?

În acest an, avem mai multă speranță pentru Nowruz. În ultimii doi ani, am fost în doliu de Nowruz. AU fost două Nowruz-uri la care, în loc să fim împreună și să împărtășim bucuria, ne-au invitat să ne izolăm și să stăm departe. Mulți dintre noi au pierdut prieteni și rude. Și, sătui de izolarea în carantină și în snop, suntem nerăbdători!

Иранската Нова година (Ноуруз) е древен празник, почитан в обширно географско и културно пространство, което се простира далеч отвъд границите на съвременен Иран. През 2022 г. Ноуруз, считан още за началото на пролетта, се пада на 20 март 2022 г. За да се запознаем с дълбокото значение на този празник и неговата важност, блогът “Персийският мост на приятелството” препечатва статия на Феридун Маджлеси – бивш ирански дипломат, настоящ анализатор по международните отношения и водещ ирански интелектуалец.

Какво очакваме от Новруз и настъпването на пролетта, за да се поздравяваме взаимно? Разцъфтява ли в душата ни нова надежда и усещане за живот? Очакваме ли да бъдем отново зелени и щастливи, а не да се превърнем в смачкани листа както беше миналата година?

Тази година имаме повече надежда за Новруз. През последните две години скърбим на Ноуруз. Това бяха два Ноуруз, в които вместо да бъдем заедно и да споделяме радостта си, бяха поканени да се изолираме и да останем настрана едни от други. Много от нас загубиха приятели и роднини. И тъй като ни е писнало от изолация, локдаун и наблюдение, сме нетърпеливи!

There are limits to the benefits from Iran’s membership to Shanghai Cooperation Organisation

The Iranian leading foreign policy analyst Diako Hosseini comments on the economic and foreign policy benefits for Iran out of the membership in SCO, as well as on the influence which this membership could have on its relations with the USA, EU3 Russia and China 

Iran’s admission as a full member of a security organisation that unites Russia, China, India, Pakistan and a number of Central Asian states was accompanied by praising articles in the Iranian English-language official The Tehran Times. Foreign policy experts and political analysts have charted a bright future in which relations with the ‘East’ will help Iran overcome the economic and social crisis that has arisen as a result of international sanctions. Moreover, they are confident that Iran will now be in a stronger position in the negotiations in Vienna with the group of six leading countries of the international community on the resumption of the nuclear agreement, which Tehran froze in the run-up to the inauguration of the new President Ebrahim Raisi this summer. 

Below, the Persian Bridge of Friendship publishes an interview with one of Iran’s leading foreign policy experts who takes the liberty of expressing an alternative and critical view.  Diako Hosseini is the director of the World Studies Program at the Center for Strategic Studies based in Tehran. In an interview with the Iranian Labour News Agency, Hosseini commented on the new status of “member” of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization that Iran received at the Dushanbe summit on September 17, 2021. According to Hosseini, despite successful interaction with the Asian security organization countries, Iran continues to be hampered in its economic and foreign policy relations due to sanctions. Moreover, it is premature to believe that Tehran has placed itself uniquely and permanently in the orbit of Russia and China.
