The relations between Bulgaria and Iran have always been based on mutual respect and friendship. In the future the two countriies can intensify their cooperation in a number of areas, said the ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran His Excellency Seyed Mohammad Javad Rasouli  in a special interview with the Bulgarian National Radio

The Centre for Iranian, Balkan and Central European Studies looks for members and cooperation in its region of interest and beyond

This is a press release of the Sofia-based Center for Iran, the Balkans and Central European Studies.

The Centre for Iran, the Balkans and Central European Studies (IBCE) renewed its activities. Earlier IBCE had been active in the academic field, organising scientific conferences, summer schools, meetings for experts of Iranian Studies in the region of Central Europe and the Balkans. In the coronavirus times IBCE has been promoting or organising online courses in Iranian Studies matters – history, literature, language teaching. Reports on a number of those activities are now posted on the site of IBCE – in Persian or English language.

The Iranian ambassador to Bulgaria discussed economic and cultural cooperation in Rousse

Apart from the business opportunities, which attract the interest of Iranian entrepreneurs, it is possible that a festival of Iranian cinema takes place in Rousse

This text is a press release of the municipality of Rousse. 

On 14 August 2020 the mayor of municipality Rousse Pencho Milkov and the deputy mayor, responsible for utilities, Dimitar Nedev have welcomed in Rousse the ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Bulgaria His Excellency Mr. Seyed Mohammad Javad Rasouli. 

The diplomat was interested in the possibilities for economic and cultural exchange between Iran and Bulgaria. He proposed the organisation of days of Iranian cinema in Rousse and mutual exchanges of museum expositions, which could illustrate that the common things between the Iranian and the Bulgairan people is not limited to the common words in the two languages.

The EU, Russia and China have their own visions for the Middle East, which emphasise economic development and cooperation. A surprising step towards the peace camp was made by the UAE

The world media reports abundantly on the escalation of tensions in the Middle East. In the hot summer of 2019 we followed the takedown of an American drone, which Iran claimed entered its aerial space. The UK captured an Iranian tanker around Gibraltar, claiming that it was about to deliver petrol to Syria, against international rules. Iranian military seized a British tanker in the Strait of Hormuz. We also learned that the USA has introduced sanctions against the Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, who played a key role in the negotiations and signing of the 2015 nuclear agreement with the group of six (USA, UK, France, Germany, Russia and China).

What has a more difficult time grabbing the attention of the international press are the efforts of a number of countries supporting peaceful development and easing of tension in the Middle East. The EU, Russia and China see possibilities for economic development, reconciliation, trade, and security partnerships in this region. Without saying so openly, these concepts are being realized, evidently counter the confrontation strategy of Iran’s adversaries.
