What is the Persian Bridge of Friendship?

The escalation of hostilities and confrontations in the Middle East provokes some explanations, a reckoning and a modest vision for the future of the only Bulgarian-Romanian-Persian blog in our media space

We are approaching the end of 2023 and this suggests somewhat of a reckoning. It has been a very successful year for my Bulgarian-Romanian activities. The Bulgarian Diplomatic Institute published a book on Romanian foreign policy and Bulgarian-Romanian relations, in which I am the author of half of the content. I am actively involved not only in the Romanian editorial office of Radio Bulgaria, but also in the news and culture programmes of the Bulgarian National Radio with materials on Romania and other issues. My cooperation with Radio Romania as its correspondent has in turn made visible to Romanian society important issues of political and social life in Bulgaria. And my personal media projects – Cross-border Talks, the Bulgarian-Romanian blog “The Bridge of Friendship” and its younger sibling “The Persian Bridge of Friendship” – allow me both to develop my knowledge and understanding of international issues and to expand my network of interlocutors. I‌ wrote in May 2023 a kind of manifesto, which defined the philosophical position behind my media and there explained more about the notions of bridge of friendship and dynamic identity in the context of Southeastern Europe. 

But while Europe-focused media has somehow managed to evolve on its own, with the Persian Bridge of Friendship I have encountered many challenges. I feel that both I and the readers need some explanations, some stock-taking and a kind of vision for the development of this medium.

Dr. Hajar Fiouzi was a lecturer in Persian language at Sofia University, New Bulgarian University and Iranian Cultural Center. He holds a PhD in chemistry. She worked at the High Institute of Chemistry and Technologies, the Institute of Chemical Research and the Vladaya Chemical Factory, where he had a work experience of about 12 years before going to Iran between 1976 and 1984. In Iran, she worked at the Tobacco Research Institute of Iran and in Tehran at a factory as head of a chemical laboratory. In 1984, because of the Iran-Iraq war, she returned to Bulgaria. She started working at the cigarette factory in Sofia as a chemical expert. We talk to her about the life and work of an Iranian woman who chose to live in Bulgaria.

Д-р Хаджар Фиюзи е била преподавател по персийски език в Софийския университет, Нов Български университет и в Иранския културен център. По специалност тя е доктор по химия. Работила е във ВХТИ, Научно-изследователския институт по химия и фабриката за химически вещества във Владая, където има около 12 години трудов стаж преди да замине в Иран от 1976 до 1984 г. В Иран работи в Научно-изследователския институт на “Иран табак” и в Техеран във фабрика – като началник на химическа лаборатория. През 1984 г. заради войната между Иран и Ирак се завръща в България. Започва работа в цигарената фабрика в София като експерт по химия.  С нея разговаряме за живота и работата на една иранка, избрала да живее в България.

Ali Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani’s contribution to the foreign policy of Iran as seen today

The person of the late Islamic Republic of Iran statesman, famous for his white turban, continues to stir debates in his own country. The reformist newspaper Shargh published an article, where notable contemporary political scientists and analysts – Sadegh Zibakalam, Fereydoun Majlessi and Javid Ghorbanavoghli, comment on what characterized the person of Rafsanjani and his contribution to the Iranian foreign policy

This article is an edited version of a publication at Shargh on 7 January 2022 at the pages 1 and 2.
